It is a municipality in the Munich district, administrative region of Upper Bavaria, with the subdistricts Neubiberg and Unterbiberg. It borders directly on the Munich districts of Neuperlach and Waldperlach, the municipalities of Ottobrunn and Unterhaching, and the Waldkolonie subdistrict of the municipality of Putzbrunn.
