Building under renovation in the Center of Cento

This typical house in the old center of the City of Cento features all the fundamental and traditional compositional spaces and elements, almost unchanged over time. Built on the public street, the beautiful classic facade displays the marble plaque of the Centese sculptor Stefano Galletti, who was born here. Under the portico, the entrance to the residence and the shop are sheltered: entering through the restored old door, you access a large atrium, with well-consolidated wooden beams. Through this hallway or "loggia," you reach a large hall, located at the far right, with a fireplace and two accessory rooms. At the end of the hallway, the internal door opens to reveal an ancient garden, very bright and protected by high walls, divided into two courtyards and very quiet. The residence and the convenient outbuildings extend over a total of 373 square meters of commercial space. In addition to these areas, there is a double garden of 280 square meters. The ground floor area, excluding the portico and the shop, is about 110 square meters. From the wide staircase, we reach the noble floor, also adorned with wooden beams and joists, with four large rooms ranging from 25 square meters to over 30 square meters and a core for sanitary facilities. Another beautiful 18th-century fireplace decorated in white stucco is located in the main hall. The first-floor area is about 165 square meters. An original staircase leads to the very spacious attic, with heights up to 4.60 meters, for an area of about 100 square meters, plus the terrace of about 18 square meters. In the attic, with a completely rebuilt roof using reclaimed period beams, a sloped terrace is indeed planned, providing additional light along with skylights placed in optimal positions. Completing the property are two other buildings located in the garden: a building used as a woodshed and a small two-level outbuilding. The area of these accessories is about 120 square meters. An initial project, signed by a well-known architect from Bologna, envisaged the renovation of the house as a single large residence. Subsequently, an unfinished second project divides the building into five small or medium-sized housing units. Externally, the building has already been finely renovated, while internally it is in a raw state. Partial exchanges are also considered.
