Friesdorf

Friesdorf is a district of Bonn located on the northern edge of the Bad Godesberg borough. It borders directly on Dottendorf and, to the east, on the district of Hochkreuz. Around 1900, Friesdorf was still an insignificant locality with underdeveloped infrastructure between Bonn and Godesberg. It was incorporated into Bad Godesberg in 1904 and, with the incorporation of Bad Godesberg in 1969, became a district of Bonn. Today, approximately 8,200 residents live in Friesdorf. The proportion of children and young people is above average. More than 65% of the population is under 60 years old. The town center offers numerous shops and has good access to public transport.

Godesberg-Nord

Godesberg-Nord is the official name of a district in the Bonn borough of Bad Godesberg. Surrounded by the other Bad Godesberg districts of Schweinheim to the southwest, Friesdorf to the north, Plittersdorf to the northeast, and Alt-Godesberg to the southeast, it is home to around 1,800 residents.

Originally built on an old branch of the Rhine, residential development is mainly limited to the area along the border with Schweinheim, halfway up the slope toward the Bad Godesberg Burgberg. The buildings originally consisted primarily of workers’ and company housing belonging to nearby industrial operations. In the second half of the 20th century, they were largely replaced by block-style residential buildings. The social structure of the neighborhood contrasts significantly with that of Alt-Godesberg, which gained a reputation as a spa resort, as well as with the other districts later incorporated into Bad Godesberg.

Godesberg Villenviertel

The Villenviertel of Bad Godesberg, located between the Rhine and the town center, became a preferred retirement location for wealthy industrialists and pensioners throughout the 19th century. Magnificent villas shaped the streetscape then and continue to do so today. After the relocation of the federal government, many properties—formerly used as embassies or diplomatic residences—were high-quality modernized. Today, the Villenviertel is once again one of the most sought-after residential areas in Bonn. The train station with DB, S-Bahn, and U-Bahn connections is just a few minutes’ walk away. The town center, with shops for daily needs, can be reached in about five minutes on foot.

Heiderhof

Heiderhof, located at the city border with Wachtberg, is a district of the federal city of Bonn within the Bad Godesberg borough. The area lies above the Rhine Valley and borders the districts of Lannesdorf and Muffendorf. Since 1964, Heiderhof has been considered a good residential area, characterized by rather modest architecture. Kindergartens, a primary school, and various shopping facilities contribute to a family-friendly environment and a well-developed infrastructure. Public transport connections are provided by bus lines 610 and 611, which offer access to Bonn Central Station.

Hochkreuz

Hochkreuz is a northern district within the Bad Godesberg borough and belongs to Bonn. It lies directly on the Rhine and is part of the former federal government district. The area is shaped by the Rheinaue Landscape Park, built in 1979, which offers many recreational opportunities and attracts nationwide interest through its annual events. In addition to a large number of residential options, Hochkreuz is home to well-known major companies, ministries in the fields of education, research, transport, finance, and the environment, as well as the headquarters of the television station Phoenix, which also houses local studios for the broadcasters ARD and ZDF. Shops for daily needs are within walking distance. Thanks to excellent public transport connections, both the Bad Godesberg and Bonn city centers can be reached quickly, offering a wide range of shopping and dining options. The A 562 can be reached in just a few minutes via the B 9, and from there the A 59 provides access toward Cologne.

Lannesdorf

The district of Lannesdorf was incorporated into Bad Godesberg in 1935. With the establishment of larger industrial and commercial enterprises in the eastern part of Lannesdorf, the area became partly a workers’ settlement after the Second World War. Lannesdorf offers all shops for daily needs, and fast connections to Bonn and Cologne are ensured through public transportation.

Mehlem

The district of Mehlem is located in the Bad Godesberg borough and is home to around 8,600 residents. Mehlem is known for its riverside promenade with views of the Drachenfels directly across the Rhine and the stately villas lining the promenade. A bus stop is located in the immediate vicinity of the area, providing quick access to Bad Godesberg’s town center and the train station. In addition, Mehlem station offers connections to regional public transport. Via the B 9, you can quickly reach Remagen and Bonn.

It is used primarily as a residential area and features a picturesque historic center with Franconian half-timbered houses dating back to the 17th century. Muffendorf is located on a hillside between the higher-lying Heiderhof and Pennenfeld in the Rhine Valley. To the north, it borders Alt-Godesberg, and to the south, Lannesdorf. Bus connections to Bonn and Bad Godesberg are within walking distance.

Pennenfeld

Pennenfeld is a district of Bonn located within the Bad Godesberg borough. It lies south of the Godesberg town center and is surrounded by the districts of Muffendorf, Lannesdorf, Rüngsdorf, and Alt-Godesberg. Pennenfeld is characterized by residential estates, schools, commercial businesses, and sports facilities. Bus line 856 provides quick access to the Stadthalle, where various bus and rail connections are available in all directions. Godesberg station and the A 562 motorway junction are each about 8 minutes away.

Plittersdorf

Plittersdorf is a district of the Bad Godesberg borough situated between the Rhine River and the Bad Godesberg old town. In the course of the 19th century, many wealthy industrialists and retirees settled here, building their retirement residences in what became the “Plittersdorf villa quarter.” The district is also strongly shaped by the “American Settlement,” built in the 1950s around the former U.S. Embassy, as well as by the Bonn Rheinaue park, which offers excellent recreational value. From here, one enjoys outstanding views of the Rhine panorama and the Siebengebirge. The B 9 provides quick access to the A 562, which connects to the A 59 in the direction of Cologne.

Rüngsdorf

Rüngsdorf, located directly on the Rhine, is one of the most desirable residential areas in Bonn, together with the Villenviertel. This is reflected in the property benchmark values, which consistently rank among the highest. In addition to magnificent villas along the Rhine and in the surrounding area, the district features numerous well-maintained single- and multi-family homes. A small but high-quality local infrastructure with shops for daily needs is available, and the Bad Godesberg town center is also quickly reached. Public transport connections are excellent via the bus network and Godesberg station.

Schweinheim

Schweinheim, a district of Bad Godesberg, is considered one of the best residential areas in all of Bonn. The neighborhood is characterized by impressive villas and well-kept single-family homes. Schweinheim stands out for its elevated location and proximity to the Kottenforst nature reserve. The district is also home to notable institutions, such as the Protestant Waldkrankenhaus hospital and the Russian Consulate General. Shops and restaurants are found only in limited numbers within the district, but the Bad Godesberg town center—with its wide range of amenities—is easily and quickly reached.
