Cavalese is a characteristic mountain village in the province of Trento with just over 4,000 inhabitants at an altitude of 1,000 meters. Spread over a sunny terrace facing the Lagorai Range, it is part of the Magnificent Community of Fiemme and is the administrative, cultural, and historical center of the Fiemme Valley. In the historic center, there are craft and sportswear shops, a nightclub, pubs, wine bars, renowned restaurants, perfectly restored historic buildings such as the Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme with the witches' prisons and now home to the Art Gallery, the Parco della Pieve with the Archpriest Church of the Assumption (year 1112), the crenellated bell tower of the Church of San Sebastiano, elegant villas, and modern sports facilities. Among these, a futuristic ice rink where you can skate even in summer and a municipal swimming pool with indoor and outdoor whirlpools. From the village, the Alpe Cermis ski lifts take skiers and hikers to spectacular high-altitude views. A tourist destination frequented both in winter and summer: the most practiced sport is undoubtedly skiing, particularly Nordic skiing, which has its highest expression in the MARCIALONGA and hosts its historic finish. In summer, the cycling path that begins in Molina di Fiemme is very popular. It runs on asphalt until Moena, then continues through meadows and woods to Alba di Canazei for a total of about 48 km. Pleasant nature walks unfold around the town. Among the most admired natural monuments are the Cavalese waterfall and the centuries-old "Pezo del Gazolin" tree. The Val di Fiemme is preparing for the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Trentino locality will host as many as 21 Olympic and 38 Paralympic competitions. In what will go down in history as among the most widespread Winter Games ever, the Val di Fiemme will be a key host venue where the Nordic disciplines (cross-country skiing, jumping, and combined) and the Paralympic cross-country and biathlon events will take place.
