Isen (5,602 inhabitants) is a market town in the Upper Bavarian district of Erding and is located in the upper Isen Valley about 40 km east of the state capital Munich. It is the southernmost municipality in the district of Erding and, with more than 5,000 inhabitants, the fourth-largest. The market town of Isen is composed of the communities of Westach, Schnaupping and Isen. Isen is about 20 km southeast of the district capital Erding, 11 km southwest of Dorfen, 26 km northwest of Wasserburg am Inn, and 18 km north of Ebersberg. The distance to Munich Airport is 34 km. Regional buses run to the nearest railway stations in Dorfen (Deutsche Bahn) or Erding (S-Bahn). Via the A94, downtown Munich can be reached in about 30 minutes. All shopping facilities, doctors and banks can be found in Isen. A Hauptschule and Mittelschule are located on site. Primary schools and secondary schools are available in Dorfen, Markt Schwaben and Erding.
